Peyton's Promise 5K for CDH Research

Peyton's Promise is a 5K for CDH research being held on May 16th, 2009 in Sea Isle City. The benefit is working to raise money and awareness for a Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia or CDH. Registration for the 5K is going to start at 9:30 and the race is set to start at 11. The location is JFK and the Promenade. The cost of the race is $20 for adults who register prior to May 6th and $25 after, kids 5-12 is just $10 and for kids 5 and under the race is free. Stone Harbor Looking into Expanding Liquor License Zone

As many towns are facing the economic realitites of a slowed tax base, they must look at new ways to increase revenue. Some local business owners are asking the Stone Harbor Council to approve changing the current liquor license zone. The businesses feel that transferring a license out of the zone, would allow for increased growth to Stone Harbor. I hope it works out for them, anyone looking to open a business to build the tourism in an area like Stone Harbor should be encouraged.

Film Festival in Wildwood Wins Award

Wildwood by the Sea Film Festival has won an award from the New Jersey Governor's Conference. The award is for the 2008 film festival which was held September 25th to 28th. The film festival was among 10 organizations in the state that were honored from what tourism officials said was an unprecedented number of nominations.
The selection committee consisted of tourism professionals representing academia and private business associations throughout the state. The awards honor individuals and organizations that have contributed to the experience of the state’s visitors and the quality of life of its residents.

Sea Isle City Triathlon

The great thing about life in towns like Sea Isle City, is the many events that take place. The weekend of May 23rd 2009 will be no exception. The 23rd is home to the Sea Isle City Triathlon. The triathlon is known as 'Tri for the Vets', all the proceeds are going to the Sea Isle City VFW's effort to rebuild the Sea Isle Veterans Memorial site and to Injured Marine Semper Fi Fund.
