Gillian's to expand Sea Isle City amusement park

SEA ISLE CITY - Gillian's Funland of Sea Isle City made about $400,000 in 2009, its first year in a coastal city that went without an amusement park for a decade, and the park's operators intend to add more rides this year.
"I'm just pleasantly surprised," said Jay Gillian, who also operates Gillian's Wonderland Pier in Ocean City. "I did hit all the numbers I planned to hit. I was very conservative."

SEA ISLE CITY — Irish Weekend was a huge success this year in Sea Isle City, according to a release.With beautiful weather and tons of activity, there was something to occupy everyone throughout the entire weekend, Sept. 26-27.
Vendors sold food, beverages, crafts, clothing, Irish memorabilia. They lined JFK Boulevard with their goods. There was also plenty of musical entertainment throughout the entire weekend. Sea Isle City Columbus Day Parade and Italian Festival

Sea Isle City will hold its Italian Festival Celebration and Columbus Day Parade, Oct. 10 from 1-8 p.m.
The festival is sponsored by Kix-McNutley’s and LaCosta Lounge, and includes local vendors selling food, beverages, clothing, crafts, and Italian memorabilia.
There will be musical entertainment throughout the day and an appearance by Jerry Blavat. The Cento Corporation will also have their hospitality truck at the festival, featuring special items and cookware.
The annual Columbus Day Parade coincides with the festival, beginning 2 p.m. at the Italian-American Club, LaRosa Way and Cini Ave., ending at Kix-McNutley’s, 63rd St. and Landis Ave.

October will be the host of many 2009 fall events in Sea Isle City for the 2009 Season, beginning with Harborfest Weekend, sponsored by Sea Isle Revitalization.
This event will kick-off the month of October with an all-day festival Oct. 3, from 11 a.m.- 6 p.m. at 42nd Place and The Bay. Rain date will be Oct. 4.
There will be fresh seafood and beverages, along with a host of activities that will include maritime exhibits, fishing demonstrations, boat shows and rides, craft vendors, a children’s fun area, music, and a clam eating contest.
