Southern New Jersey boardwalks took the No. 1 and No. 2 spots in a "Top 10" survey released by the Web site www.ForbesTraveler.com.
Atlantic City's Boardwalk, the first of its kind in the country, came out on top of the list. The Web site notes that the first boardwalk in the country was known as "a stage for the latest inventions and oddities" for much of the 20th century. It is now home to eight casinos and the annual Thunder Over the Boardwalk airshow.

Yellow cars on Wildwood Boardwalk are a familiar sight to weary tourists

WILDWOOD - Joelle Ellis had never been so happy to see a tram car in her life.
Two years ago the State College, Pa. native, her husband and their young son, Jonah, were spending a family night out on the Boardwalk here when a spontaneous summer storm unloaded on the shore town.
Cold and drenched, the Ellises grimly entertained the prospect of lugging a sopping toddler several blocks down the Boardwalk to their lodgings. Then they spotted salvation in the form of a bright yellow tram car.

Wildwood by the Sea Film Festival has won an award from the New Jersey Governor's Conference. The award is for the 2008 film festival which was held September 25th to 28th. The film festival was among 10 organizations in the state that were honored from what tourism officials said was an unprecedented number of nominations.
The selection committee consisted of tourism professionals representing academia and private business associations throughout the state. The awards honor individuals and organizations that have contributed to the experience of the state’s visitors and the quality of life of its residents.

Wildwood to Create Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall

This past Wednesday the Wildwood city commissioners voted to offer their support to create a replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in one of the community's parks. This vote follows a sucessful stop in Wildwood for a half sized replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial this summer. Over 15,000 people were reported to have visited, The Wall That Heals.
This is great news for Wildwood. It looks to become a long standing tradition and part of Wildwood if everything continues. The commissioners will still have some work ahead of them, but it looks like everyone is for the memorial.

This weekend in Wildwood should be a cold, fun-filled one. This weekend marks the 3rd annual Polar Bear Plunge for Special Olympics. The weekend has continued to grow in each of its previous years. This year will be no different.
This year's Wildwood Polar Plunge will start in Camden, New Jersey with a motorcycle rally that will make its way from Camden to the Wildwood Convention Center. Hot tubs will be set up for the polar plunge and indoor registration will be available. According to the NJ Polar Plunge website, the Wildwood Polar Plunge has raised over $67,000 already.
